Dawsons’ pioneering audio-visual multi-cabin wireless system awarded ‘Best Marine Installation’

A sleek and ‘invisible’ high-end audio visual installation by Dawsons, the highly regarded Dorset-based audio-visual company, aboard Princess Yachts’ MY Imperial Princess has won the coveted “Best Marine Installation” award at the 2013 Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association (CEDIA) Awards.

Dawsons’ pioneering audio-visual design provides a bespoke multi-cabin wireless system that utilises a wide range of products tailored especially for the yacht’s internal and external areas.

The audio-visual specification complements the luxury yacht by combining Denon Blu-ray receivers with Linn speakers, Velodyne subwoofers and Kaleidescape movie server. All of which are simply operated through a Crestron iPad control system.

The sleek and user friendly Crestron iPad interface was custom designed by Dawsons’ highly skilled installation team. The interface provides an intuitive level of audio control that allows guests to create a personalised environment within their cabins. The system also contains bespoke firmware which guests can use to adjust the air conditioning and lighting within the cabin. The Captain has access to all cabins from his iPad and can globally set temperatures and lighting ahead of his guest’s arrival.

Each cabin features its own Denon iPod dock and Apple iPod Touch along with a Denon Blu-ray receiver, which is paired with the superb Linn 104/106 in ceiling speakers and Velodyne subwoofers. The Sky deck is equipped with a removable TV and an additional iPod controller which allows users to control the Kaleidescape zone player and enjoy movies and music from the central server. The audio is reproduced in external areas by a variety of Speakercraft flush mounted speakers and subwoofers, driven from Dawsons’ unique IcePower amplifiers which provide exceptional distortion-free sound.

The entire installation provides outstanding picture and sound quality, carefully considered for the ease of use for both the owner and guests. The installation is ‘invisible’ within the yacht’s interior design by Bannenberg & Rowell / Princess, demonstrating exemplary workmanship.

Dawsons maintains its name as the leading audio visual marine specialist in the after winning the coveted title of ‘Best Marine Installation’ for the second year running. This builds on previous accolades in 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2012.
